Our Story

It is the philosophy of Colonie Community Daycare (CCDC) that early childhood education should be a time of fun, warmth, security, exploration, and discovery. Preschool children are creative and receptive: the staff strives to nurture and encourage these qualities in the children who attend our program.

The preschool’s purpose is to provide an atmosphere that encourages social, emotional, physical, and intellectual growth and development of the child as a whole. Planned within the framework of this philosophy and purpose, our curriculum includes sharing and conversation times; stories, songs; creative art activities and crafts; games and large muscle activities; exposure to shapes, colors, numbers, and letters; and celebration of birthdays, seasons, and holidays. We look forward to getting your child prepared for Kindergarten and helping them grow, play, and learn. Knowing how to behave and succeed independently in a classroom setting is a great accomplishment!

CCDC was established forty-eight years ago. It is a private, not for profit organization conducted under the auspices of the Colonie Community Reformed Church. The school is located at 701 Sand Creek Road in Colonie. The program services ages three to five. We have a three-year-old class taught by Miss Lexy, and two four-year-old classes taught by Miss Laurie and Miss Mikki.
